Varsity ushers in second batch of government sponsored students

Zetech Government Sponsored students report

Zetech University is a leading private university in Kenya, positioning itself as a pillar of education, academic excellence, character development, and community service. The varsity has adequately prepared itself to meet growing demand for education in the country, and was recently awarded over 400 students by the government, who reported in May.

The sponsorship initiative, hatched in 2016 by the Kenyan government to meet increasing demand for education, has enabled young people from all over the nation to register for Degree courses and pursue their educational ambitions, following placement by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) late April.

Last year, the institution was awarded over 700 students but figures across the board have decreased following a number of factors affecting the sector, such as the performance of the KCSE 2016 examinations.

Noting that the programme is crucial to the growth of the education sector, Zetech VC Prof. Edwin Wamukoya expressed his delight in receiving the sponsored students, noting that the bridge between education needs and provision of quality education has been a challenge in the country for the past couple of years and is slowly decreasing through such initiatives.

“As an educationist, I am passionate about the delivery of quality education to all Kenyans; through the sponsored programme, we believe that more Kenyans will get the chance to study at the Degree level and move closer towards achieving their dreams,” He said, adding, “At Zetech, we are thankful to the government for our allocated students and look forward to start training them during our May semester.”

On his part, University Registrar Moses Maina said the varsity is equipped to meet the demands of the new students and assist them in settling in campus. He shared that the learners will meet an eager fraternity of trained teaching staff and excited regular students who look forward to building a powerful Zetech family.

Through quality education, research and training and vibrant talent development, the incoming learners have a lot to look forward to as they join the university.
