Zetech to Train Kiambu MCAs following pact with County Assembly

21st June 2016 marked an important day for Zetech University and the Kiambu County Assembly following a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both parties to provide the County Assembly members with quality university education.

21st June 2016 marked an important day for Zetech University and the Kiambu County Assembly following a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both parties to provide the County Assembly members with quality university education.

The signing ceremony, held at the University’s Thika Road Campus, saw Kiambu Speaker Honourable Gathii Irungu emphasise the importance of empowering the Kiambu County Assembly Service Board (KCASB) through capacity building primarily powered by education.

“It has been a lengthy discussion between KCASB and Zetech and I am pleased that we finally settled on an agreement that will benefit both parties. We as the County members are committed to this MOU and we believe this partnership will result in enhanced delivery of services.” Hon. Gathii stated.

Echoing his sentiments, Zetech University Vice Chancellor Prof. Edwin Wamukoya stressed on the varsity’s delight in sealing the MOU and expressed the trainers’ zeal as they prepare to train and empower  the County officials,

“We are honored at the opportunity to build capacity among our County leaders and provide them with quality higher education to improve efficiency; we are encouraged by their commitment and excitement to kick of what looks to be a fruitful partnership.” Prof. Wamukoya said.

The leadership further stated that the officials will register for their intended courses with the university adjusting the learning process for members who sign up, following the demands of their offices,

“We will ensure that the officials are comfortable and enjoy a flexible timetable that enables them to effectively learn while continuing with their day to day duties.” Prof Wamukoya noted.

County officials present at the signing ceremony included County Assembly Service Board members Cecilia Wamaitha (MCA, Gatuanyaga ward) and County Assembly Clerk John Mutie. Also in attendance was Peter Kiarie (Muchatha ward), James Mburuti (Komothai ward) and David Waihumbu (Nachu ward) as well as senior members of the Zetech University board.
